Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is BlytheCon?
A: BlytheCon is an event organized by enthusiasts for fans of the big eyed world of Blythe. The event is organized and run entirely by volunteers. BlytheCon 2009 was the maiden voyage! 2010 brought BlytheCon UK. This will be the second year BlytheCon has been hosted in the U.S. The goal of BlytheCon is to celebrate our favorite doll and to meet others who share this joy!
Q: Who are the BlytheCon 2011 organizers?
A: BlytheCon 2011 is being co-organized by three dolly seamstresses:
JULIE - House of Pinku
-
KYLE - Button Arcade
-
MAGGIE- Parasol Doll
BlytheCon 2011 would not be possible without the help of the amazing ladies who organized BlytheCon 2009 or the support of our friends and the Blythe community!
Q: Why Portland/June/Monday/Location, etc?
A: We, the organizers, live in Portland and adore our city! Portland is a beautiful mid-sized city with lots of interesting attractions, a fantastic public transportation system, and a strong support of crafting and d.i.y. communities; perfect for the Blythe community!
The date and location of the event were our most difficult decisions and they were made with lots of care and consideration. We chose a Monday to keep BlytheCon 2011 as affordable as possible. Venue Pearl is the ideal location based on the quality of the venue and proximity to lodging and attractions. We are confident that it will be an amazing event!
Q: Do I Have to Pre-Register?
A: We are extremely grateful to those who pre-register as it allows us to plan accordingly and budget for even more treats and surprises! Also, those who pre-register will have their name badges professionally personalized by Button Arcade. If you are not sure if you can make it, no worries! We will gladly be accepting people the day of the event.
Q: What is With All the Legal Paperwork?
A: BlytheCon is not a legal entity (although it is in the works!) and has no assets. Special Event Insurance is required by most venues when holding an event this large. It would drastically increase the cost of holding BlytheCon 2011 if we had to provide event insurance and we would have to pass that cost on to you, the attendees. By requiring the Release of Liability forms, you are legally acknowledging that you are participating in BlytheCon 2011 at your own risk. BlytheCon 2011 is entirely run by volunteers who have invested a great deal of personal time and financial risk. We really appreciate your understanding!
Q: Are You Accepting Donations?
A: Yes! Please email us with information regarding your donation and we will send you the address! We are accepting small items for the treat bags, raffle prizes and fundraiser items. We will also gladly accept monetary donations which will help provide more treats and ensure BlytheCon 2011 is a success!
About the website:
This site was built with much love (and a few tears) by Lisa & Maggie. The logo, layout and website design is by the inimitable Lisa Mirella of Rabbitine using iWeb. The site content was created and maintained by Maggie Baird, webmistress to the dolls. The whole site is privately hosted by Maggie’s kitties who must pedal very fast to keep things running smoothly. We are very proud of this handmade website. Should you find any broken links or dust bunnies, please contact us so we may tidy up!
